It’s my understanding that pushing your hips forward activates the abdominal muscles. The exercise as it’s illistrated will primarily target the hip flexors. You can do this exercise with your knees straight for more resistance. Point your toes and lift your feet up to head level.

When it comes to ab workouts you want to have a flat back to active your abs. If you have a big arch in your back like in other exercises you may find yourself with a sore back during/after an ab session.

I tend to do this exercise with my legs straight out, for people who say it’s a hip flexor exercise why does it burn my abs so much.

    That’s all, enjoy.

if anyone wants a six pack lift weights until sore wait 3 days and do it again do everything curls extensions rows but leave a couple days in between. lift things the right way as well add weights wen you need to i done this for like 3 weeks and had results

The movement shown here is more than anything a hip flexor exercise. If you want to target your abs more than this, do it with bent legs, trying to touch your chest with your knees. That will target your abs.

is there any difference between this and the captain’s chair exercise other than the way each one is set up?

I’ve read that too. I’m not 100% sure on that, but I will try them out and let you know. Apparently they’re supposed to be much more effect with a rounded back instead of a arched back. I’ll try them out and let you know what I find out.
